What is Mercury Gatorade Anyway?
What retrogrades are & tips on making the most of them.
We exited the latest Mercury retrograde on June 22nd, but that does not mean that 'Retrograde Szn' is over. For those who have not been paying attention to retrograde planets – let's go over some quick basics.
When we say a planet is retrograde, we are stating that it appears to be moving backward. From our perspective, there are times in the year when different planets retrace their steps in the charts we pay attention to in astrology. Retrogrades teach us difficult lessons by exposing the little things that fly under the radar. When weak spots get the spotlight, it is a perfect opportunity to go back to the drawing board and do a little construction on the structures we have in place within our lives.
Retrogrades get a bad rap when we view the speedbumps they present us with as inconveniences. Are they inconvenient? Sure – but the rule is: If it does not cut it during retrograde, whatever is going wrong was not strong enough to last the test of time. Viewing these little spotlights as clues instead of problems, we now can fix the weak points before a minor leak brings the entire house down.
What is a shadow period?
To simply put it: A shadow period is while a planet returns to the original position it was in before stationing retrograde. For example, we exit the shadow of this most recent Mercury retrograde on July 8th, once Mercury reaches 24 degrees in Gemini.
During shadow periods, the rules of retrograde apply with a bit of flexibility. Things come to light as we retrace the movement we just recently experienced—the journey of traveling back to where we first began. In the instance where a retrograde leaves you with only problems and no solutions, the answers might start coming to light now.
Advice & Tips
Fighting a planet is not something I advise. However, if you wish to spar with Jupiter- be my guest. Research its weight class, and best of luck. Choosing to resist the plans these celestial bodies have in motion is something I have learned from experience, does not end well. Attempting to continue life as usual and bucking through the obstacles as if nothing has changed will gift you with a bigger mess every time. Observe, slow down, see what arises, reflect, and take note. Each retrograde has its purpose. Take advantage of them instead of ignoring them, and you can thank me later for the results. ♡
As always, take good care of yourselves and drink lots of water.
